Slime King Games, the indie game studio founded by Simone and Johannes Grünewald, will release their first game "Under the Island" in cooperation with Top Hat Studios.

Top Hat Studios has joined forces with Slime King Games. The US indie publisher will publish Under the Island, developed by the Hamburg-based developer. Executive producers will be Andy Andi Han and Joseph Brown.

Slime King Games was founded in 2020 by Simone Grünewald and Johannes Grünewald. Simone Grünewald is an artist and art director, having been responsible for the art direction, character design and art layouts for the entire Deponia series while overseeing most of the art production as Head of Art at Daedalic Entertainment since 2009. She also served as character designer and art director on "Ken Follett's The Pillars of the Earth". Johannes Grünewald, an artist and animator by trade and also formerly with Daedalic Entertainment, has worked on many different shipped titles as either a Senior Artist or Consultant Artist, primarily working on animation and special effects for the Deponia series of adventure games.

"'Under the Island' captures the feeling of childhood wonder and 90's Saturday morning cartoons as an expansive player-agency focused adventure RPG, focusing on the joys of exploring and discovering hidden nooks & crannies, secrets, defeating dastardly baddies and finding otherworldly things," the press release states. The game also features music by Miyoko Takaoka, with additional music provided by Edward Marianukroh, best known for his work on "Chained Echoes".

Further news and announcements regarding the platform availability and distribution of Under the Island will be made in the future. However, based on the Steam product page, it is likely that there will be a PC version.

Top Hat Studios in the USA were also involved in the releases of "Frogun", "Ova Magica", "Sonzai" and "Labyrinth of the Demon King". They provide full publishing, business and development expertise to partner studios.
