From 7 August, the PlayStation VR2 will be able to play SteamVR games on a PC. All you need is an adapter, which will be available for €60.

It was one of the surprises when new VR titles were announced in February: Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed on its blog that it was testing the use of PC games via PlayStation VR2, with a possible launch later this year. Now a concrete product is emerging from the test. As Yasuo Takahashi, senior staff product manager, announced on the PlayStation blog, the PC functionality of the PSVR2 glasses will be launched on 7 August.

An adapter is required to connect the PSVR2 to a PC. This will be available from Sony's own store and from retail partners for around 60 euros. Using the adapter and a DisplayPort cable, the VR glasses can then be connected to a PC and set up. Users can then access their Steam library and play SteamVR games.

It's a win-win situation for everyone involved. Sony can give its users access to a larger catalogue of games, and Steam strengthens its position as a distribution platform for VR games.
