Around nine million people in Germany are wishing for computer and video games this Christmas, according to the game Association, based on a YouGov survey. Other items on the wish lists include consoles, gaming hardware and vouchers, as well as books, music and films based on games.

Christmas is just around the corner and once again computer and video games are on many wish lists. Around nine million Germans aged 16 and over say they want video games for Christmas this year. This is the result of a representative survey (n=2,015, aged 16 and over) conducted by game - the German Games Industry Association in cooperation with market research company YouGov. Games are particularly popular with younger people: one in four 16-24 year olds and 25 per cent of 25-34 year olds would like to receive games for Christmas.

Around nine million Germans would like a new console or other gaming hardware such as gaming PCs (eight million), virtual reality headsets (seven million) or handhelds (four million). Gift vouchers for gaming subscriptions or shops are also high on the wish list of nine million people, making them a good last-minute gift. Games-based books, music or films are also very popular, with around 14 million people wanting them. In total, 36 million Germans want games, gaming hardware or other gaming-related items this year.
