With an additional funding of 760,000 euros, the Bavarian Digital Ministry under Fabian Mehring has pushed the public budget for XR Hub Würzburg to 2.5 million euros until 2026. The newest cheque was presented at University of Würzburg's Summer Expo.

At yesterday’s Summer Expo at the University of Würzburg in Franconia, the state of Bavaria presented a new funding check to the region’s premier XR venue: Digital Minister Fabian Mehring presented a cheque of 759,903 euros to the XR Hub Würzburg. 200,000 euros of this additional funding comes from a parliamentary initiative by Freie Wähler and CSU, while the rest stems from Digital Ministry funds. All in all, the Digital Ministry is funding the XR Hub Würzburg with 2.5 million euros until 2026.

The XR Hub Würzburg is located at the Chair of Human-Computer Interaction of Julius-Maximilians-University Würzburg and headed by Prof. Dr. Marc Erich Latoschik and Prof. Dr. Carolin Wienrich. It is part of the XR Hub Bavaria initative along with XR Hub Munich and XR Hub Nuremberg.

Digital Minister Mehring states: "If you want to be the Silicon Valley of the future, you have to be the Talent Valley of the present. The Summer EXPO is a prime example of this: Here we don't just experience technologies - we experience enthusiasm, creativity and expertise. The students impressively demonstrate what is being achieved at our universities and colleges and use this platform to make contact with companies and lay the foundations for their professional future."

Digital Minister Mehring also officially opened the new Spektrum laboratories at the University of Würzburg. The rooms are specially designed for around 150 students on the Games Engineering degree programme.
