Indie teams from Germany have until 7 June to submit their game for this year's GermanDevDays Indie Award. The prizes in the seven categories are endowed with 10,100 euros, as for the first time the worst game, Best Beaver Poop, is also endowed with 100 euros to donate to a good cause.

Now that Stefan Marcinek, founder of Assemble Entertainment and organiser of GermanDevDays (GDD), has firmed up the plans for this year's conference at the beginning of April, the competition is also getting underway. From now until 7 June, projects can be submitted for the GDD Indie Award 2024 competition.

Only German developers may submit entries and they must be made by the developer themselves, regardless of whether the developer is a company, a studio, a team or an individual. The award ceremony will take place on 7 August at 6 p.m. during the GDD GermanDevDays in Frankfurt.

As in previous years, there are a total of seven categories this year, all of which are endowed with prize money. The prize money totals 10,100 euros. The extravagant amount is due to the prize money for the Best Beaver Poop ("Best Biberkacke"; Worst Game) category, which for the first time offers symbolic 100 euros to be donated to a good cause.

The categories in detail are:
- Best Beaver Poop (Worst Game) - endowed with 100 euros (donated to charity) - Best prototype - endowed with 1,000 euros - Best appearance (graphics, animation, etc.) - endowed with 1,500 euros - Best sound (music, sound, voice output) - endowed with 1,500 euros - Best story (Story) - endowed with 1,500 euros - Best game mechanics (game design) - endowed with 1,500 euros - Best game - endowed with 3,000 euros

Applications for GDD as speaker are open until 20 May. As places for the GDD are limited, registration is currently open to all interested parties, but participation is by invitation only. Registration therefore does not automatically mean that you are authorised to take part.
