US-Entwickler Novalogic (u.a. "Joint Operations" ist in Erklärungsnöten. Bei einer Durchsuchung der Firmengebäude stießen Ermittler der Business Software Alliance (BSA) auf nichtlizenzierte Software.

In den vergangenen Wochen war die Business Software Alliance (BSA) im Großraum Los Angeles aktiv. Gleich bei mehreren Unternehmen wurden die Ermittler fündig. Darunter auch Spieleentwickler Novalogic, die u.a. für den Tatikshooter "Joint Operations" bekannt sind. BSA-Angaben zufolge wurde nichtlizenzierte Software von Adobe, Apple, Autodesk, FileMaker, Macromedia, Microsoft und Symantec auf den Firmenrechnern gefunden. Nun muss das Unternehmen Lizenzgebühren in Höhe von 153.500 US-Dollar nachzahlen.

Schwerer wiegt jedoch der Imageschaden, wie auch Novalogic-President Lee Milligan gegenüber der "Ventura County Star" einräumte: "Als Spielentwickler sind wir auf den Respekt vor unserem geistigen Eigentum angewiesen." Er bedauere den Vorfall und sagte der BSA seine volle Unterstützung bei der Aufklärung zu.
