The funding periods for the three grants began in February 2026, but it usually takes several weeks before the grants can be officially announced with legal certainty. Berlin-based Sandbox Interactive GmbH, known for its work on Albion Online and part of the Stillfront Group, has received €501,175 in funding for Relikt Sturm. The funding period runs until the end of October 2027. The €443,130 grant for Tidal Rush from Berlin-based Shiny Dynamics GmbH, however, has a significantly shorter duration, running until the end of 2026.

The funding for Finitude GmbH from Berlin for Kinstrife has been in the database for a while. The medieval strategy RPG, which was signed by publisher Hooded Horse in March, is being funded with €1,976,995.00. Created by former modders from the Mount & Blade community, Kinstrife is a non-linear medieval sandbox game set in 13th-century Germany. Players take on the role of a wandering knight and journey across the land to build wealth, secure followers and carve out a noble destiny in a time of strife.

The Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) provides grant funding of up to 50% for the production of video games and the development of prototypes. Depending on the size and evaluation of the project, funding typically starts at €300,000 and is provided as a non-refundable grant covering up to 50% of a project's eligible costs, with a cap of up to €8 million per project for companies that have a registered office, permanent establishment or branch office in Germany. The overall annual budget of the programme has recently increased to over €120 million, further strengthening Germany's role as a video game development hub.
