GamesMarket Daily – 13. July 26: Half-year Charts, Austria, gamescom, Chris Chung, Spiel des Jahres, Forensics

There’s more to the industry than that, dear readers,

aside from gamescom. The game Verband has today published its half-year charts – that is, the best-selling games released in the first half of the year. Long-running favourites such as EA Sports FC or GTA V are not on the list. The fact that Capcom accounts for three of the top ten games speaks not only for its clever release strategy but, of course, also for the quality of Capcom’s games. But I’ve never doubted that, of course. And to ensure things don’t get too quiet on the gamescom front, today we’ve taken a look back at the history of the trade fair, including exhibitor and visitor figures. After all, gamescom is an extraordinary success story – something we cannot emphasise often enough. Ubisoft has drawn an initial positive conclusion following the launch of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. There were almost 100,000 concurrent players on Steam and two million units sold on the very first day.
