One third of all gamers in Germany are at least interested in handheld PCs or plan to buy one. This is the result of a survey conducted by the industry association game.

The trend towards mobile gaming computers is arousing great interest among German gamers. At least that is what game believes, based on data from a survey of German gamers conducted by YouGov on behalf of the German Games Industry Association.

According to the survey, seven percent of gamers over the age of 16 have already bought a handheld PC. This equates to around 3.1 million people. Almost a fifth of all gamers are planning to buy one, and a third are at least interested in the handheld PC category. Interest in handheld PCs tends to be higher among younger gamers and declines rapidly among the over-45s.

Felix Falk, Managing Director of game, highlights the improvements in processors and graphics chips, which need to be particularly powerful and efficient for use in handheld PCs for gaming. "This shows once again that gaming is a technology driver from which many other areas benefit," says Falk.

The association has a survey conducted twice a year by YouGov, the results of which are representative of German players aged 16 and over. The association asks about various topics. In addition to recurring questions about esports or mobile gaming, for example, trends such as handheld PCs are also addressed.
