Following approval by the EU, the new and revised funding guidelines for games in Baden-Württemberg are now in effect. Applications can be submitted. The next deadline is 31 August.

After a break, funding for games in Baden-Württemberg has resumed. MFG Baden-Württemberg had revised and further developed the funding guidelines for the Games BW programme. As is usual in such cases, the new funding guidelines first had to be approved by the EU before they could come into force. For this reason, no applications could be submitted in recent weeks.

But that is now a thing of the past. Brussels has given the green light and the new funding guidelines came into force on 1 August. Applications for funding can now be submitted until 31 August, when the deadline for submissions expires.

This is also one of the few changes in the new guidelines. Previously, applications for concept funding could be submitted on an ongoing basis. Now there are two fixed dates per year on which a jury reviews the applications and decides on funding.

Another change is of a substantive nature: in future, gamification projects will also be eligible for funding alongside games. However, the most important cornerstones remain unchanged. In Baden-Württemberg, there are still three types of funding – concept, prototype and production – with maximum funding limits of 20,000, 120,000 and 500,000 euros respectively. The MFG has a budget of 1.2 million euros per year for Games BW funding.
