According to the regional association, a visible symbol of the location was unveiled immediately following the general meeting on 17 March in Düsseldorf. Over 200 participants from the industry, politics, academia and research took part in the second edition of the games.Link.nrw.Event. The organisers therefore regard the event as established and intend to continue it as a platform for networking and as a showcase event. However, no dates have yet been announced.

It was also important for North Rhine-Westphalia as a games hub that two key messages emerged from the general meeting: continuity and new momentum. Continuity is reflected in the re-election of the existing board members, who also confirmed their respective roles at their first meeting following the election. Benedikt Grindel of Ubisoft BlueByte thus remains the association’s board spokesperson. Katharina Weiss of Silent Future was confirmed as deputy board spokesperson. The board also includes Johannes Brauckmann (NARC), Daniel Dumont (Gaming Minds Studios) and Lena Morano-Gerding (tobspr Games).

As regards the conditions in NRW, the association games.nrw intends to continue working closely with other networks as well as the game. At the general meeting, the handover of the Deutscher Entwicklerpreis (German Developer Award) to the newly established joint foundation was also discussed, as was the close cooperation with the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, which is responsible for games funding in North Rhine-Westphalia and also the gamescom stand. Here, the association has been actively involved in shaping the conceptual development.
