GamesMarket Daily – 13 Aug. 26: 4Divinity, Testronic, King Art, Madfinger, Neoludic, Fake Lobster, Creative Europe Media
Asian publishers looking to conquer Western markets with the help of gamesocm, new top executives and partnerships, sales figures and product delays – it was quite a day for news.
Europe is and remains an interesting market, dear readers,
not only for US publishers but also for the rapidly expanding global games industry from Asia. Buoyed by its success in its home market, 4Divinity is also planning to push harder into Western markets – and what better opportunity for this than gamescom in Cologne?
After all, the trade fair brings together as many trade visitors from all over the world as only the GDC in its heyday and E3 before its collapse ever managed to do. The level of interest in showcasing one’s work to the world in Cologne is also evident from the growing number of national pavilions, where regional representatives are increasingly present – such as the Gamebase incubator from the Czech Republic.
As well as promoting games, it also aims to promote the Brno region itself. Perhaps this is an early indication that, in future, we might see not only national pavilions but also state and regional pavilions. That said, this wouldn’t be entirely new. The German federal states traditionally have separate stands. And Quebec is usually present with its own stand too, even if it’s located not far from the Canadian pavilion.
Here are the news of the day!
