Die Verleihung der neunten Annual Interactive Achievement Awards in Las Vegas stand ganz im Zeichen von Microsofts Action-Blockbuster "Gears Of War". Bei den Nominierungen noch Kopf an Kopf mit "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion", avancierte der von Epic Games produzierte Titel zum großen Gewinner des Abends.

Microsoft und Entwickler Epic Games dominierten mit dem Action-Blockbuster "Gears Of War" die neunte Verleihung der Annual Interactive Achievement Awards, die am 8. Februar von der Academy of Interactive Arts and Science in Las Vegas verliehen wurden. Lieferte sich der 360-Shooter bei den Nominierungen noch ein Kopf-an-Kopf-Rennen mit Take 2s Rollenspiel-Highlight "The Elder Scrolls IV - Oblivion", so sorgte der Actioner in der Endabrechnung für klare Verhältnisse: Alles in allem acht Trophäen gingen an "Gears Of War", darunter auch der Gesamtsieg in der Kategorie "Game of the Year". Mit vergleichsweise bescheidenen zwei Auszeichnungen - "Computer Game of the Year" und "Role-Playing Game of the Year" - musste sich Mitfavorit "Oblivion" begnügen.
