During gamescom's "Opening Night Live", Ubisoft announced Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake, a modern reimagining of the critically acclaimed turn-based strategy game. Despite its 3D visuals and updated gameplay, the remake remains compatible with additional content from the original game.

Rebuilt from the ground up using Ubisoft's Snowdrop engine, the remake replaces the original game's fixed 2D isometric perspective with a 3D world and free camera control - with 4K visuals, dynamic lighting, real-time weather and shifting seasons. However, the core gameplay mechanics of turn-based strategy, RPG hero progression and tactical grid combat remain unchanged. Building on this foundation, the remake introduces a variety of quality-of-life improvements and new features. These include enhanced planning and decision-making tools, ensuring a more intuitive experience while staying true to the original.

Packed with the entire content of the original game and its two expansions (Armageddon's Blade & The Shadow of Death), Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake includes all nine factions and original campaigns. The story is now woven into a continuous experience. This is complemented by a new introductory prologue campaign that eases players into the world and gameplay, as well as a new suite of fully produced cinematics.

The game can be played solo or with up to eight players online with improved matchmaking and a simultaneous turn system. It also sees the return of the Hot Seat mode. In honour of the franchise's community roots, the remake is compatible with maps and campaigns created by players over the past 25 years. The updated editor tools and the new in-game UGC hub make it easier to discover, download and share content created by the community.

"With the remake of Heroes of Might and Magic III, our aim is to pay tribute to the rich legacy of the original game from 1999 and to modernise the gaming experience for a new generation of players. The remake provides us with the perfect foundation on which to build an already popular game, while also paving the way for the next chapter in the series.” - Xavier Poix, Senior Vice President at Ubisoft and head of the studios involved in the game's development

Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake is being developed by Ubisoft's Chinese studios in Chengdu and Shanghai, with associate studios in Paris and Montpellier being involved too. The game will launch in 2027 on Ubisoft+, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
