Vigamus Establishes German Subsidiary With Hans Ippisch as Country Manager
The Italian Vigamus Group is internationalising its product range and establishing a subsidiary in Germany. Under the management of Hans Ippisch, Vigamus is initially launching GLOS (Games Localisation School), with Vigamus Academy and Vigamus Museum to follow in 2025.
One of the major goals for the internationalisation is to find a suitable location in Germany for a branch of the Vigamus museum, which has been successful in Rome since 2012. Ideally, events should also be held there that strengthen the cultural significance of games in Germany. But the Italian group of companies is leading the way with the GLOS International Games Localisation School, which is due to start in October. Selected courses from the Vigamus Academy will then also be offered by the new German subsidiary Vigamus Group Deutschland over the course of 2025.
The German office has now been launched in Nuremberg. The Country Manager is Hans Ippisch, who founded his first games studio in Bavaria in 1986 and has since helped shape the German games scene as a manager in both the media and games industry. "I have admired the activities of Vigamus Group for many years, and I felt honored when I was asked to build a branch in Germany. There are numerous opportunities for Vigamus Group Deutschland to have a sustainable, growing business from the Academy to the museum to events", says Hans Ippisch, founder of the HAIP Group and Executive Director at BBG Entertainment.
"Germany has the largest video games market in the EU - it was clear to us that we would start our internationalization there, because in Bavaria in particular there are optimal conditions for the internationalization of our existing activities and even the intensification in the area of game development. Combined with the opportunity to sign Hans Ippisch, one of the most renowned minds in the German games industry, as country manager for Germany the decision was easy for us", explains Marco Accordi Rickards, CEO of Vigamus Group.
Vigamus was created in 2012 with the foundation of VIGAMUS - The Video Game Museum of Rome, recognized by the Ministry of Culture. Vigamus is also among the founders of EFGAMP - European Federation of Video Game Archives, Museums and Preservation Projects.
Vigamus Group is also experienced in the field of event management, from the organization of IVDC (the Italian Video Game Developers Conference) from 2008 to 2012, to the international event of Game Rome from 2016 to 2019. Since 2023 Vigamus manages Checkpoint - Festival of Interactive Works of Rome. Among its assets Vigamus Group also counts different specialized press services for the Games Industry: the specialized press website vgmag.it and V - the monthly magazine about video game criticism.
