The Munich-based PR agency Marchsreiter Communications is withdrawing from the business. This was announced on LinkedIn by the company's founder and managing director, Dieter Marchsreiter. The well-known and high-profile agency has apparently fallen victim, albeit indirectly, to the ongoing crisis in the games industry. Many of the companies affected by redundancies were clients of Marchsreiter Communications, some of whom had been with the agency for many years.

Marchsreiter therefore wrote the following on LinkedIn: “I have made the difficult decision to wind down Marchsreiter Communications GmbH. As the industry I grew up with still continues to reset and redefine its future, a lack of sustainable future projects in the German and Polish markets, combined with the current state of the global games industry, has brought us to a point where continuing in the same structure is no longer viable."

"After more than 20 years in business, this step was not an easy one. What remains, above all, is gratitude for the journey with others. First and foremost, to all team members, past and present: your passion, professionalism, and resilience shaped the agency. Working alongside you has been one of the most meaningful parts of this journey.

To all our partners, clients, and friends across the games and media industry: thank you for your trust, your collaboration, and the many projects we brought to life together. I’m deeply proud of the relationships we’ve built over the years.
Please also consider the German and Polish team members of Marchsreiter Communications for open roles — they come with my highest recommendation.
Thank you all for more than two decades of shared experiences. While this chapter is coming to a close, these relationships and experiences will carry forward. It was particularly important to me to transition our clients into a strong and future-oriented setup. Ranieri Agency will take over a part of the client portfolio and continue to support them with an expanded, cross-industry communications offering spanning gaming, tech, consumer electronics, and lifestyle. Dieter Marchsreiter will continue to support Ranieri Agency as an independent advisor moving forward.

Marchsreiter Communications is one of the oldest German agencies specialising in the games industry. Just last year, the company celebrated its 20th anniversary with clients and friends in Munich.

Company founder Dieter Marchsreiter began his career as a games journalist back in 1989 before moving into PR in 1997 and founding his own agency in 2005. Over the years, he has worked for both international and national clients, including developers, publishers, events organisers and funding bodies. The client list built up over the years ranges alphabetically from 11bit Studios, Aerosoft and Amazon to Tencent, Wired and Xsolla, and includes events such as DCP, devcom, DevGamm, gamesco, Games Industry Conference and Nordic Game. Bungie, Crytek, Modus, Netflix Games, Nexon, Rebellion, Square Enix, Scopely, SNK and Starbreeze, among many others, have also worked with Marchsreiter.
