Figuya X Konsolenkost Reopens 4th Former GameStop Germany Location
The expansion of the Figuya X Konsolenkost joint venture continues: the fourth store has now opened in Neu-Brandenburg.
According to the report, over 100 customers were waiting to be admitted when the store opened, including numerous cosplayers. The company itself has not issued another press release about the latest opening. The fact that a branch is planned in Neubrandenburg was already announced at the end of July when the branch in Braunschweig opened. It is also certain that another branch is planned in the shopping center at Leipzig Central Station as soon as the renovation is complete. Further openings have not yet been confirmed, but cannot be ruled out. In a background discussion, those responsible indicated that they want to grow healthily and seize opportunities for new stores without putting themselves under pressure or setting fixed targets.
Figuya x Konsolenkost is a joint project of Figuya, which specializes in anime and Japanese pop culture and operates its own stores, and the gaming retailer Konsolenkost. The stores opened so far have all been in locations that previously housed GameStop Germany branches.
GameStop decided in 2024 to cease its activities in Germany. The US chain operated a three-digit number of stores at its peak, but reduced the number in recent years. The last 69 stores in Germany closed permanently at the end of January, freeing up attractive space in shopping centers, some of which have now been occupied by Figuya x Konsolenkost.
