Sovereign Tower is a medieval fantasy RPG with a round-table setting. It combines visual novel-style management simulation with intricate knightly dynamics and political intrigue. Ascending to the throne as the Sovereign, players must balance the egos of eccentric knights, the demands of their court and a kingdom on the brink of either greatness or ruin. From the throne, players must listen to, and respond to, the requests, demands and complaints of their subjects. Behind the cozy graphics lies a tricky — if not downright demanding — balancing act, as players must keep the various social classes happy: Merchants, Mystics, Scholars, Nobles and Commoners — and of course it's impossible to please everyone.

To complete quests such as recovering lost relics, banishing great evil, dealing with flooded villages and rounding up stray geese, players will need to recruit a group of highly eccentric knights. These knights have their own strengths, weaknesses, personalities and attributes, and some quests require specific skills, such as Strength, Agility, Charisma, Magic and Wit - as well as Luck while on quests. Therefore, players need to ensure they send the right knights on the mission. Sending the wrong knight could offend them so badly that they leave the round table for good — or worse, they could die. Sometimes, the 'right' knight for a mission may already be out on another quest, in which case alternatives must be found. Knights act independently on missions. They'll suggest surprising (and often unscrupulous) alternatives. Since the player doesn't know the knights' preferences and traits right from the start, they need to spend time with them — or instruct their advisors to spy on them. Speaking of management, the treasury must also be kept in check in order to pay for equipment, armour repairs and horses for the knights.

In addition, alliances can be formed with neighbouring counties, and the tower can be expanded by adding new annexes, thereby creating more positions to fill within the court and expanding crafting options. Overall, however, the dialogue and world-building are mostly great and convincing, and at times absurdly funny. Due to the large amount of text, there is no voice acting. The text is available in English, French, German, Japanese, Korean and Simplified Chinese.

It is time travel that sets Sovereign Tower apart. A magical artefact housing a demon is locked away in the tower's vaults. This demon enables players to turn back time, although he seems rather too eager to manipulate the timeline. When players turn back time, they retain prior knowledge, which unlocks new dialogue options and actions. They can even avoid repeating conversations, since they already know what people are going to say. Armed with this knowledge, players can prevent the murders of their knights, stop wars before they start, or unite hostile factions. But there's a big (and interesting) caveat. Every correction creates a completely new chain of unpredictable events.

Sovereign Tower is the fourth game from Wild Wits, an independent French video game studio founded in 2021 and based in Rennes. Specialising in tactical, RPG and narrative games, the studio has developed titles such as Aetheris, Critters Crusade and Crown Gambit. The studio has eight employees.

"We are thrilled to finally welcome players to Sovereign Tower as it launches today. The community support has been beyond our wildest dreams, and we are so excited to see what players think of the new Knights, quests, and secrets that lie within the tower's walls." - Gobert, Creative and Art Director, Wild Wits

The game has been published by Curve Games, a Nazara Technologies group company based in London. Boasting a catalogue of over 50 games, the company's titles include For the King I & II, Bomber Crew, Lawnmower Simulator, Human: Fall Flat (which has sold 60 million copies) and Wobbly Life.

"In Sovereign Tower, Wild Wits have forged a royal feast of chaos, with its lovingly imagined world, delightfully unhinged cast, and wit sharper than a knight's blade. It's a kingdom we pledged our allegiance to from the moment we first crossed its gates. We can't wait to see budding sovereigns lay claim to it for themselves." - Rich Keen, VP of Publishing, Curve Games

Sovereign Tower was released on 6 August 2026 for PC at a price of €19.99.
