The German Computer Game Award (Deutscher Computerspielpreis; DCP) has been given a new look this year without attracting too much attention. The trophy has not changed, so the branding and the physical prize are separate.

A new logo for the German Computer Game Award has been used on the website and in social media posts for several weeks now. When contacted by GamesMarkt, a spokesperson confirmed that the organisers of the award ceremony at devcom had created the new design in close cooperation with industry association game, the award office at the Stiftung Digitale Spielkultur (Games Culture Foundation) and the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz (Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection). The idea was to develop the brand further and give it a modern look and feel. The DCP is the most important award in the German games industry and brings together representatives from the industry, politics and culture. The new logo should reflect this, the spokesperson said.

But not everything will change. The trophy awarded at the DCP, which was much more prominent in the old branding, will not change. The new branding will decouple the trophy from the brand. The German Computer Game Award will be presented on 18 April. The ceremony will take place in Munich this year. Since 2009, the DCP has been awarded alternately in Berlin and Munich.
